Hvor du finner oss / where you will find us
Come and visit us at our Lawn Bowls Green at Lassa (near the
Tjensvoll roundabout – see map below) in Stavanger.
We play (at least) every Monday and Friday, and meet at
09:45 am to start play at 10:00 am. We also play on Tuesday at 5:30 pm, which
might be more suitable for those who are not yet
pensioners.
In
the 3 winter months, only if the weather is really poor (mainly snow, ice,
heavy rain, or full storm), then we meet at the same place, decide where we
shall play, and if it’s “inside”, then we drive 4 minutes up the road to
Tjensvoll Handball indoor arena (Stavanger Idrettshallen), and play on that
surface (so keen are we !).
When you can and if it looks like “outside” weather, let me
know if you wish to come, and drive to Stavanger and I (or one of us) will meet
you there at the Lassa bowling green.
HISTORY OF SBC:
Initially playing on the artificial (short) turf of a local (FK Vidar) football
training pitch (which was, in fact, good enough), whilst playing on the indoor
playing surface in the winter months, SBC has over the last 6 years steadily
increased its membership, and we’re now 55 players. Stavanger City Council, realizing and
appreciating the health and social benefits, have been very supportive, and
invested in and built a full-sized outdoor international lawn bowls green (with
Dale’s carpet surface), the first of its kind in Norway. Opening day was
24.sept 2013.
